GRAFTON -- Deputies have released the names of the people involved in a fatal accident Tuesday, Dec. 1 on Route 250.

Buck Ashcraft of Shinnston died after driving a Nuzum's coal truck that flipped on its side and slid across the roadway about a mile from the intersection with Rt. 50, according to Chief Deputy Terring Skinner, the Taylor County Sheriff's Department.

The preliminary investigation shows that the truck lost control in a turn and crossed the center line, Skinner said.

As he crossed the line, it appears Ashcraft hit a Jeep Liberty SUV, according to Skinner.

While sliding down the roadway, a Buick came around the turn and appears to have struck the coal truck, before being pinned to the guardrail, Skinner stated.

Robert and Janet Gidley of Grafton were in the Buick, and were flown to Ruby Memorial Hospital via Healthnet, said Skinner.

Dale Pilling, the Jeep's driver, and her 14-year-old passenger were taken to Grafton City Hospital, and Pilling was later transferred to Ruby as well, Skinner said.

My wife, Dale Ann, was the driver of the Jeep Liberty. I am a long-haul truck driver, pulling a tank hauling cryogenic gas. In fact, I was in Oklahoma City unloading when my daughter called me with the news about the accident. My wife is a very cautious driver and was not across the center line. If anyone has question concerning the accident and what really happened please contact the Taylor County Sheriff's Department. Our hearts go out to the Ashcraft family.

Everytime a truck driver wrecks, its automaticly the truck drivers fault, as the police say...I've been trucking with bucky for 2 years now. Bucky knew the capabilities of his truck, and how to take turns at a safe speed. If everyone would go and look at the skid marks on the road, you can almost see what happend. Buckys skid marks start in his land of travel, and run towards his side of the burm, almost like he was trying to get out of the way of someone. HE NEVER CROSSED THE CENTER LINE TILL THE TRUCK ROLLED OVER... I was trucking that same streach of road all day friday, when i was coming to that turn, I saw a car passing another truck, HEADED right for me. The car almost didnt make it. THAT STREACH OF ROAD NEEDS TO BE WATCHED BY LAW ENFORCEMENT.

Gonna miss truckin with ya bub. we had some fun times together.

I really don't know why every time there is an accident involving a truck, the first thing that happens is everyone starts pointing fingers at the truck driver.

I am friends with Bucks kids. Im not sure if im correct but I heard that the man that was driving the Jeep passed the car in a blind turn and hit Buck causing him to run off the road and then flipping his truck and while his truck was on his side the buick car hit the cab of the truck and was not pinned against the guardrail. Im not sure if any of this is true but supposedly the person that is working on the case said the Bucks skid marks didnt cross the yellow line until he flipped the truck. My prayers go out to the family and friends of Buck and also the ones who's family was involved in the horrible accident. Buck was a very wonderful and loving person and he will be dearly missed.

Seriously Tammy, your post choked me up! Very thoughtful and we appreciate your kind words. If the world were full of people like you, it would be a MUCH better place! I do not know anyone involved, but would like to say that your families are in our hearts. I am sure Buck knew what a wonderful sister he had! I'm not even religious, but will be saying a prayer for all of you tonight!
