FAIRMONT -- The accident happened near the Pleasant Valley exit on Interstate 79 just after midnight on Thursday.

A motorcycle wrecked, according to Sheriff Joe Carpenter, and 911 officials said the driver went to Ruby Memorial Hospital in a helicopter.

Deputies are not releasing the driver's name at this time, but Carpenter said speed was a factor in the accident.

The accident shut down traffic on Interstate 79 for more than an hour, as crews worked to clean up the roadway.

Whether or not speed was a factor shouldn't concern those who didn't know him. He has a family and two children, do you think they care about how fast he was going?

RIP Bill. We miss you.

Now this is just sad.I came here to find out who this man was and find only morons in a childish tiff over speed limits and whose more christian. If there was a god it would surely slap you in the face and remind you a fellow human has died. Have we no respect for a life lost anymore? Does it realy matter if the speed limit was broken? What about the family left behind? Is there anything I can do for them ?

Yes, Indeed this was a tragedy, however, as far as watching the speed limit,I believe that certain persons should practice what they preach, especially on city streets! Speeding on city streets is also an act of stupidity.

Terrible crash, But people need to pay attention to the speed limit. I-79 has turned into a Death Race Road with people driving in excess of 85 mph on a daily basis. So this is the result of stupidity. Shame...My prayers to the family

The accident happened at the 137.2 milemarker on I-79 and the person did not go in the helicopter, the healthnet crew went in the ambulance with him.
