BUCKHANNON -- The Upshur County Commission has named an interim director for the county's E-911 Center.

County Commissioners chose Office of Emergency Management director Jim Farry for the position.

Farry has been part-time OEM director for about three years and he will now do both jobs and work full-time, said commissioners.

Farry says he does not anticipate applying for the permanent E911 director job, but says he does have goals while he's the interim director. For example, he'd like to improve the relationship between the Office of Emergency Management and the E911 Center.

"Planning and developing some resource lists. And I want to make sure that that information is shared so that everyone is on the same page. I think that's critical," said Farry, Upshur County's new interim E911 director.

The county's former E911 Director, Louse Bleigh, resigned about two weeks ago at an Upshur County Commission meeting. A dispatcher was also fired at the meeting.

A permanent director could be hired in two or three months, said Farry.

I believe the new guys name is Jim Farrell, not Farry. He has taught ICS courses that I've attended. He is very knowledgeable and has years of experience.

Louise was the best director the county had. The county commission is just too stubborn to work with anyone on anything. I'd say replace them if you want to keep your E911 Directors! As for the firing of the dispatcher, that was petty and she didn't cost the county any money by taking those classes. She took them on HER OWN TIME! Just the commission and dispatch wanting to keep those who will bow down to them. Good Luck to Louise and the Displaced dispatcher. We know Louise had a lot on her plate and did much more than what was expected of her. I doubt if you will find a Director that will go in and dispatch on her days off as much as she did. To the dispatcher, we all know that you were not done right at all!
