Council approved resolutions during its Thursday night meeting to make five properties blighted areas.

That clears the way for the city's Urban Renewal Authority to put together redevelopment plans to bring economic activity into Clarksburg.

Those properties are: the Adamston Glass site, the West Virginia Mac site on Ohio Avenue, the old Clarksburg City Hall site, and property between Traders Alley and West Pike St.

City Manager Martin Howe says it's the next step in bringing those projects to completion.

Howe says the city is in good shape.

Three properties are brownfield sites, which qualifies them to receive funding and certification of completion.
