FAIRMONT -- The Fairmont Union Mission had to find more room to store donated turkeys this morning.
North Marion IGA owner Russell Yost and Colessesano's owner John Menas collaborated on bringing in 50 birds for the mission's Thanksgiving day feast.
"John saw the report by Danni Brake on News Watch 12 last week, saying the mission needed 50 turkeys." said Yost.
Problem is, that report aired last week. Since then, the mission has received more than enough donations to feed the expected crowd of more than one thousand people.
So Yost left the mission with his turkeys in tow and headed to the Penny Pincher in downtown Fairmont.
He unloaded more than 10 cases of frozen turkeys and put them in a large walk in freezer.
Mission officials say any excess turkeys may be used for the Christmas feast planned for later on this year.
