FAIRMONT -- Allegheny Technology Corporation owner Arria Whiston says her company has worked with the Small Business Administration for 9 months trying to get a government contract.
On Monday, her hard work and dedication paid off.
Whiston signed a small business contract with NASA allowing her two man operation to provide knowledge and program support services to the government agency.
Whiston says her company qualified under the SBA's 8(a) business development program because she runs a "small, disadvantaged woman-owned business".
"It's a great opportunity. The SBA really does work with you and try to help enhance your business and your business plans. It really does say a lot to any woman out there wanting to start a company," said Whiston.
Also attending Monday's contract signing were Judy McCauley, director of SBA's West Virginia District Office and Dr. Dale S. "Butch" Caffall, director of NASA's IV&V Facility.
