MORGANTOWN -- Senior Monongalians honored veterans past and present Tuesday in a special ceremony.
Every year, the senior center remembers those men and women who have served their country in the armed forces.
Organizers read aloud the names on the "Wall of Honor." Many are members of the senior center, and others are posted in memory of fallen friends. It's another way to respect the service done by the men and women of Monongalia County.
"As you age, a lot of people tend to feel that they're forgotten, or what they've done has been forgotten, especially in this age of technology," said Vicki Long, who organized the event at Senior Mons, "and so to have that recognition be brought back to them it makes them feel excited, proud, and happy because someone has remembered what they did."
The fourth grade class from St. Francis DeSales was also scheduled to visit the senior center Tuesday morning. In past years, Long said the kids gave all of the veterans homemade cards.
The senior center is closed on Veteran's Day.
