BRIDGEPORT, Ohio -- The Bridgeport Bulldogs advanced in the Ohio Division VI Region 23 playoffs with a resounding 54-28 blowout of Tusky Catholic in the first home playoff game at Bill Jobko Stadium at Perkins Field.

The Smelley brothers had a huge hand in the victory. Twins, Curt and Chris, combined for five touchdowns, while their younger brother Cole added a defensive score. Chris ran for 207 yards and four scores, and Cole added 102 yards on the ground.

The Bulldogs advance to play Malvern in the next round. It will be a rematch of last year's playoff meeting won by the Hornets.

Also in Division VI Region 23, No.7 Shadyside pulled off a stunner by rallying to knock off No.2 Columbiana, 19-14.

Quarterback Dylan Kimble threw three touchdowns passes including the game-winner to Tyler Cline with 25 seconds left in the fourth quarter. Kimble intercepted a pass to seal the victory as time expired.

Shadyside will play Grove City Christian next, a 28-0 winner of Zanesville Rosecrans.

In Martins Ferry, the host and No.3 ranked Purple Riders, jumped out to an early 14-0 lead over No.6 Woodridge, only to see the Bulldogs outscore the Riders, 28-7, in the second half on the way to a 49-28 victory in the opening round of the Division IV, Region 13 playoffs.

Dave Bruney's Purple Riders finished the season, 8-3. Woodridge advances to play Girard in the next round.

Sounds to me it was all about the Smelley brothers. I saw a different game. To me it was the Team that won the game. Price had two touchdowns and others did great no mention of that. Report the story stay focused on what you writing about IT WAS A TEAM EFFORT.
