MORGANTOWN -- If you've ever been to a West Virginia University football game then you know that parking can be tricky and expensive without a parking pass.
For the last four years the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Morgantown opens its parking lot to the public for free parking and fellowship.
The church is within walking distance to the stadium and says its something they've always offered.
"We call it our tailgate ministry," says Edward Pollock. "We offer food and drink. We also offer entertainment and music so people can come and have a good time and get together before the game and relax."
The distance from the church to the stadium is about a half a mile walk on Patteson Drive but the church also offers a free lift.
The church's fleet gives free rides right to the stadium.
"They have to walk back but at least they get a free ride over," says Pollock.
They say the majority of the people they see each week are from the opposing team or from out of town.
The men's ministry says it hosts the tailgates to have a good time and as an outreach.
"We like to let people know that part of a church isn't just sitting in a pew. We like to do things with the community and show the community what Jesus Christ is about," says Pollock.
A sign at the tailgate reads: Parking $0, Food $0, Eternal Life...Priceless.
Saturday morning since the game was at noon, they offered a breakfast tailgate with pancakes and more.
Although everything is free, the church says, they are not opposed to taking donations.
