KINGWOOD -- The Preston County Prosecutor's Office said an arson reported in Kingwood's West Point community Nov. 2, 2009, and a robbery reported along Route 7 on Oct. 25, 2009 were false reports.

The same person filed the reports, according to a release from the prosecutor's office.

Cpl. Craig DeBerry of the Kingwood detachment of the West Virginia State Police is investigating the alleged arson, the release states.

Lt. Joe Stiles with the Preston County Sheriff's Department is looking into the alleged robbery, prosecutors stated.

Investigators are trying to determine if any charges will be brought in both matters, prosecutors said.
