What is there to talk about? Wash your hands, take care of your health and don't expose yourself to others who may be sick. And, if you do get sick, get yourself treated... and for goodness sake, don't expose others to your sickness.

As for the vaccination, if the CDC can't even convince the President to give it to his children, then why would I bother listening to our local Health Department tell me it's safe to give to mine? It will be years to come before the full effects of this vaccination can be realized accurately, and I don't see the purpose of subjecting my children to this knowing that they have no underlying health conditions that would put them at risk for influenza-related illnesses and complications.

I don't think the light turnout necessarily means folks are comfortable with anything; I think perhaps many feel as I do---it's best to stay away from all unnecessary places for fear of being exposed to the flu! Many would have to bring children along, and expose them, too. If the Health Department wants to disburse information, I suggest they put those meetings on tv, on the radio, and in the newspaper; then we can safely stay home and get the information. I'm sure they could arrange to have phone-in questions for the tv and radio, to get public input.
