MORGANTOWN -- The Morgantown Utility Board will close parts of the trail as it upgrades its water and sewer treatment plant from February through July 2010.
Work will start at the Hazel Ruby McQuain Park at the intersection of the Caperton and Deckers Creek Trails and run to the Sewage Treatment Plant in Star City.
Many trail users are unhappy about the closure, others said it will be a temporary inconvenience.
"Well its unfortunate for people who use it on a daily basis, which I don't, I use it occasionally," Morgantown resident Myla Bowman said.
"It's my understanding it will improve the water treatment facility which is an issue in the summertime. It gets very smelly so if it will take that away it will be a good thing in the long run," said Bowman.
The upgrade to the water treatment plant is expected to cost $68 million.
