BRIDGEPORT -- A government program, focused on childhood education, has come to an end.
Project FLOW or Future Leaders of Watersheds, recently finished its third and final year.
The service learning program had 21 grantees, that completed more than 200 service projects throughout the state.
Organizers said the young kids who participated learned a lot about clean water.
"They've improved their science abilities and education and that's the neat thing about service learning is that it helps your youth really increase their science knowledge in this case and to give back to the community and it's a very powerful thing to have your youth actually engaged in your community," said Sherry Swint.
One local program sponsored by Project Flow was the Friends of Deckers Creek in Monongalia and Preston Counties.
