Troopers have still not been able to identify the man.

MORGANTOWN -- State police are still working to identify the remains of a man found last Tuesday in Monongalia County.

The body was found in a wooded area off of U.S. Route 19 south, past the Morgantown Mall.

Thursday, investigators released a photo of the Georgia identification card found with the body.

After examining the skeletal remains, troopers said they are pretty sure that the picture on the card is the man.

However, they are not sure that the information on the card is correct.

An investigator was sent to the address on the card, but no one there knew him.

The number on the card did not register in the Georgia system.

Investigators say they have exhausted all leads connected to the ID card.

Troopers said they believe the man died some time at the end of June or the beginning of July.

The victim is believe to be 39 to 40 years old.

The people who found the body gave no indication that they knew him, troopers say.

Anyone with information on the case can call the Morgantown detachment of the West Virginia State Police at (304) 285-3200.

He looks a great deal like a guy who worked @ the Japanese restaurant out at the Morgantown Mall food court, the police may want to check there! We have also seen a guy who looks a lot like him walking around town with a group of other Latinos (males around same age/height etc) over the past few years or so along the High Street Morgantown area. (B-Dubs, etc) all working in the Chinese and Japanese places @ the Mall there in Westover the past several years.

That article was posted from June 2008, not 2009 ~ strange coincidence, though.

I have to laugh. This information is bothering me, and I call the number listed above to report this because I feel this could be the victim. The person who answered, identified as a State Police officer. When I gave him the information, he simply said, "Yep, that sounds interesting, but, coincidences happen all the time..." He asked me no questions. I finally said, "So is this something relevant to you, because I really feel strongly about this." And he said, "Ma'am, I really don't know anything about this, you need to call your local police." I explained that this was the number the news gave to call, and he said "oh ~ it is? Well, you need to call back after 9:00 then." I wonder if this will ever get solved..... Hmmmm

This was posted in the Wheeling Intelligencer/News Register on June 24, 2009:

"Erick Perez Hernandez jumped head first from an Interstate 70 highwall early today landing more than 70 feet below the Belmont County deputy attempting to arrest him.

Law enforcement agencies searched by land and air today to track down the suspected illegal alien who is feared dead.

Hernandez was one of 11 suspected illegal immigrants detained in a traffic stop at 12:08 a.m. in the eastbound lane of I-70 between Bridgeport and St. Clairsville. Hernandez told arresting deputy Aynsley Hildebrand he would not go back to Mexico as he ran from the van he was driving. Hildebrand said he chased Hernandez across both lanes of I-70 before Hernandez dove over the retaining wall to the earth and stone below.

"The first thing I did was call for a squad because I thought he was dead," Hildrebrand said.

Hildrebrand used a flashlight to watch Hernandez after the fall. He said it appeared the suspect landed "on his face." The deputy said he thought Hernandez was unconscious for more than 20 seconds before he again fled. Hildrebrand said he believed Hernandez had a broken leg and was badly bleeding from the fall."

Could he quite possibly be this man? And if he was an illegal, with a fake driver's license, how could he be traced?

.."Big Brother", otherwise jails would be full of victims alongside perps!

Hopefully by posting this photo ID, someone, somewhere (whether it is a clerk in a store who may have waited on him, or a neighbor, co-worker, etc..) may recognize this poor man, and it may HELP the police (who btw are paid to "serve & protect" so it's their sworn duty) not only figure out who this poor unfortunate young man was, but also what may have happened to him.~ As a SOCIETY we all have a duty to help each other.

Some murders will always be unsolved and that is unfortunate. The police cannot solve all of our crimes. Many times people are their own worst enemies who create a life of chaos ,but then suddenly society wants the government/police to fix the mess after the victim has already placed themselves in danger. Sometimes when we make our own beds we have to sleep in them ! Justice starts from the bottom to top. The individual must also be held accountable.Don't always blame the police ,they are not God and cannot always give people the answers they demand !
