More than 2,000 kids participated in the King Kats Kids Fishing Rodeo this summer, as an addition to the King Kat's Fishing Tournament hosted annually by Cabella's Outfitters. All of the the kids were registered to win the scholarships.

Two 4-year-olds, Hunter Bragg of Rivesville and Jolyn Stuart of Morgantown, were picked at random for the scholarships. They received the information and brand new fishing rods in the park Tuesday.

The purpose of the award is to encourage kids to take up fishing.

"They're the future of the sport," said Tanner Tabor, with Cabella's King Kat Tournament. "And it helps keep them away from drugs and other stuff if you can get them involved in the outdoors."

Two other winners were from the Point Pleasant area. The final two were from the midwest.
