CLARKSBURG -- The Harrison-Clarksburg Health Department has canceled an H1N1 flu vaccination clinic scheduled for Monday.

The department has not received its shipment of the vaccine, according to nurse Ramona Swiger, Threat Preparedness Coordinator.

This was the first clinic planned by the Harrison County Board of Education.

It was supposed to be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday night at Robert C. Byrd High School for children ages 2 through 6, or for children up to the age of 18 with a medical condition.

The clinic will be rescheduled once the vaccine arrives, Swiger said.

I think the health department in Harrison county is to blame as well. I work for a local Dr's office and was offered the shot and when we found out how many we needed. They canceled us, however there was still giving them out at the office. Don't offer unless you have them. And above all don't send faxes and call office and work people up about how bad it is and then say there isn't any shots.

This is an example of how Harrison County BOE operates. Hasty and uneducated decisions. They should not have scheduled anything without having enough supplies on hand. Secondly the are creating a "the-sky-is-falling" panic but using the auto-dialing systems to call all telephone numbers in their database and sending home information referring to 100 percent participation when the CDC guidelines strictly target only several risk groups...then not following through.

I don't understand why Marion county schools are getting the H1N1 flu vaccination in all the schools and giving them out during school. But Harrison County is only offering it during certian times and only can get it at one location. Also in Harrison county it is only for certian ages.
