LUMBERPORT -- Heavy rains didn't stop a group of Harrison County kids from releasing more than 300 balloons into the air Friday.
Some Lumberport Elementary School students released red balloons Friday afternoon, to kick off "Drug Awareness Week".
Next week, they will learn how to say no to drugs, through a variety of exercises.
Organizers say it is never too early to teach kids about the dangers of drugs.
"If you start early with drug prevention then it carries on through the years. So we start as early as possible with kindergarten up," said Kathy DeMarco.
The PTA purchased and inflated the balloons.
