Prodigy Foundation Awards Taylor County Teacher

CLARKSBURG -- The Prodigy Foundation has presented its 2009 West Virginia Teacher Achievement Award to Lynn Higginbotham Smith of Taylor County Middle School, on Thusday afternoon.

The "Rocket Boys" started the foundation, in memory of their teacher, Freida J Riley. Several people, including Governor Joe Manchin and Secretary of State Natalie Tennant, helped recognize Smith. Rocket Boy Roy Lee Cooke says the purpose of the award is to encourage good teachers to stay in West Virginia.
