MORGANTOWN -- The Epilepsy Foundation held a conference at West Virginia University Saturday to educate patients and caregivers.

Workshops were held for people dealing with seizure disorders.

This is the first time the educational conference has come to the area.

Saturday's motivational speaker, Mike Simmel, has epilepsy and was a professional basketball player with the Harlem Wizards.

"Having epilepsy didn't slow me down and I try to tell kids that no matter what it is you can't let your epilepsy slow you down, you can't let epilepsy slow down any parts of your life," says Mike Simmel.

The conference was hosted by WVU's Center for Excellence in Disabilities and the Western and Central Pennsylvania Epilepsy Foundation.
