MORGANTOWN -- You may have noticed the giant inflatable West Virginia University helmet in Sabraton, Friday afternoon.

US Cellular held a Fan Appreciation Day at the Earl Core Road location.

The WVU cheerleaders got the crowd pumped up with some cheers.

They also had food and prizes.

US Cellular is now the exclusive wireless provider for the Mountaineers.

The company says it is happy to be a part of the community by sponsoring WVU for the next five years.

During Mountaineer football games, US Cellular will be starting a game called the "Text to Win Challenge", where fans will be able to text on their cellular phones, during football games to win prizes.

Sounds like someone is unhappy now because they have an I-Phone and has to pay a regular monthly payment, like other starving "non-college" students. According to the U.S. Cellular website, they sponsor a major league baseball stadium in Chicago. DOesn't sound like a "small outfit" after all. While I am not advocating one cellular provider over another, I urge any to look at teh coverage maps of both AT&T and U.S. Cellular. I can almost guarantee that U.S. Cellular has better coverage in the "real West Virginia", not not just along the interstate corridors.

Why a mistake? I thinks its great they picked a smaller company that has locally owned franchises. Not everyone around here has an IPHONE. I had one and will never get another, but thats beside the point. Its good to see WVU support the local economy. The locals support WVU

WVU made the biggest mistake by partnering with this company. They are a small outfit and many students have the IPHONE which requires AT&T and since AT&T was the exclusive provider we all got awesome discounts. I think when you have friends involved in decision making they can always benefit.
