WHEELING -- The United Football League is set to launch this fall, with Weirton's Quincy Wilson in the mix. The "Q" signed with the Orlando franchise, which is coached by former NFL coach Jim Haslett. The UFL's marquee name is former first-round pick, and former Bills quarterback J.P Lossman, who will play in Las Vegas.
The United Football League is a four-team league that will play 11-on-11 football and Quincy Wilson, the former West Virginia great will play for Orlando.
Wilson last played in the NFL in 2007 with the Cincinnati Bengals, but this is another chance for him to break into the NFL.
The Ohio Valley watched Wilson develop into one of the greatest rushers in history with over 61-hundred career yards and 90 touchdowns.He's the only runner to gain over 3,000 yards in a season which he did in 1998, when his Weir Red Riders went 14-0 ad won the Class AA state championship.
There are a couple other former Mountaineers and Ohio State Buckeyes in this league. Mike Doss, a former OSU defensive back is on Quincy's team. Former Wisconsin quarterback Brooks Boellinger is Orlando's quarterback.
The United Football League's four cities are Orlando ,Las Vegas, New York and San Francisco.
They'll play a six-game schedule starting in October.
The champoinship game is on Thanksgiving weekend.
