The Taylor County Sheriff's Department is investigating the incident.

Story by Sarah Kapis

FLEMINGTON --  The Taylor County Sheriff's Department is investigating a string of property destructions at the Flemington Cemetery.

The crimes happened overnight, Sheriff Robert Beltner said.

Dozens and dozens of grave sites have been torn up, concrete has been smashed and flowers have been strewn about the cemetery, Beltner said.

There are no suspects right now but grieving family and community members are banding together to offer reward money for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those involved in the destruction.

The vandals could face a destruction of property or desecration of a grave site charge for each instance of vandalism, Chief Deputy Terring Skinner said.

If you have any information, call the Taylor County Sheriff's Department at (304) 265-3428.

My son is buried here and July 1st was the one year anniversary of his funeral. We spent thousands and thousands of dollars for his monument. Luckily it wasn't bothered but this vandalisim needs to stop! These souls are supposed to be resting in peace! I think the cemetary should invest in some typer of cameras as this isn't the first time something like this has happened.
