Weston -- Lewis County officials and members of the National Guard were in Weston this afternoon for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Governor Joe Manchin was on hand to congratulate the 620th Signal Company.

Its goal will be to provide other military units with voice, video, and data support via satellite.

The company commander says it isn't at full strength yet.

"We're authorized 51 people, right now we're at 35," reported Captain John Davis. "So we're right around 70 percent, so we need about 15 more people to be 100 percent, then once we get 100 percent, we still have to get all those people qualified in their different job specialties."

That could take up to 11 months.
