PENNSBORO -- One GM dealership affected by the announcement is Allen's Motors in the town of Pennsboro in Ritchie County.
Owner Patrick Allen says he voluntarily terminated his agreement with G-M on Monday.
The family-owned dealership has been in business for 61 years.
Allen says he feels the impact of the dealer reductions will be felt the hardest here in north central West Virginia.
"I think people are going to find in North Central West Virginia that how fortunate you are to have these family owned dealerships," said Allen. "This is, you may always not get the best deal you want, but these people are they're for you through thick and thin, giving to donations to charities and it will take an affect."
Allen says his business will continue to sell used cars, and operate its body and paint shop ...but he may have to lay two workers off.
Last year, Allen's Motors sold 60 new cars and 270 used cars which Allen says is the "bread and butter" of the dealership.
