JACKSON'S MILL -- More than fifty future firefighters have learned how to battle blazes safely.
The West Virginia Fire Service Extension has wrapped up its week long junior fire fighters program in Jackson's Mill.
The 14 to 18 year old students came from all over the state and as far away as Maine, to learn the skills they will need to become successful firefighters.
On Friday, the trainees got a chance to battle an airplane fire.
The training ended with a group photo in front of a blazing runway.
The students were some of the first people to use the state's new fire academy, which just opened this week.
